WELDING ENGINEER – PERMANENT- BRISTOL
Babcock Intec is a leading international provider of platform design, integration and
management services
and high integrity systems for the marine, oil and gas and
defence sectors.
Working as a specialist within the Production Team the successful candidate will be responsible for the
development and approval of all welding related documentation. They will play an active role in resolving
daily production issues as well as assisting colleagues in the estimation and planning of new contracts.
A practically minded Welding Engineer with experience in medium to heavy carbon and stainless steel
fabrications, they will need to be conversant with FCAW, SAW and TIG welding processes and familiar
with the latest EN ISO welding standards.
Capable of working on their own initiative and able to communicate with all levels of the business, they
will ideally be educated to HNC in Welding and Fabrication level (or equivalent) and will have good
working knowledge of common NDT processes and techniques.
Key Tasks/ Responsibilities
- Review and approve suppliers WPS’s and associated welding documentation
- Maintaining in-house WPS’s, Welder Qualifications & NDT Procedures and Technique sheets
- To develop and qualify new welding procedures and processes as required to satisfy in-house
production requirements
- To assist in the resolution of welding related issues on new projects and on existing production
facilities
- Provide input to Lean Manufacturing events and activities
- Assisting in the planning and estimation of production related contracts
- Liaise with project and design teams to drive opportunities to improve welding design and
fabrication processes
- Write cost justifications for new equipment and process changes
- To ensure the company keeps abreast with the latest technology and applications
- To develop new welding technology and equipment and ensure that it is applied effectively
within the company
