Received a job offer that sounds to good to be true ?
Finding it difficult to get any information about the company offering the job ?
Then read on:
A favorite scam of the internet con artists is the job offer variation of what's
known as the 'advanced fee fraud'.
This is how it works.
You will be sent a job offer where the wage is much larger than you would expect.
The offer comes in the form of a very official looking contract sent by email.
Now deep down you know something is wrong here, but its an incredible offer and
it might just be true. How can you afford to miss out ?
Well that's just what the con artists are playing on. Greed and the fear of missing something good.
So how do you lose out ?
Well we can guarantee that before you ever pick up your welding torch on that job, you will be asked to part with some money in advance. It might be a visa fee, or the price of the airline ticket etc, etc. But be assured at sometime in this scam they will
ask for money in advance of starting the job. Hence the name 'advanced fee fraud'
As soon as you pay the fee, that's the last you hear from these guys. Except for the real cool one's who come back an tell you that some other fee is now needed.
So how do you tell its a con trick ?
As we pointed out above, the offer will be to good to be true.
Secondly you will find it very hard to find any information about the company offering the job. Searching google will usually come up blank.
Their email address will not be from companies. They are usually yahoo, hotmail, etc.
Now what company does not have its own email address these days ?
Very few.
Also what company can be operating over the internet and not be listed in any of the search engines ?
These are your clues.
Still not convinced that you are being conned ?
Then send the details to us, we are more than happy to take a look.
What should you do if you receive such an offer ?
That's what the delete button on your email programme is for. Don't answer these people, just ignore them. Many are criminal gangs and they can turn nasty.
