iv been here for 2 years now and i think its great. over the past year the airport and roads have dramatically improved. you cant go wandering the streets on your own at night but we drive through town on a daily basis and never have any problems and we dont have security. our compant took our danger money off us aswel because there really is nothing to fear.
maybe its not for everybody but you wont know unless you try, go for it! good luck

I was in Luanda earlier this year, and hated it, Cabinda, Lobito are the best places to be...
Luanda is not the safest place...

there's also the problem of obtaining a working visa, which can be a lengthy process, you usually have to try and obtain a 28 day temporary visa before you can enter the country, and then it can take 2-3 months to get your years visa once you're out there unsure.gif

I've just spent 8 weeks offshore waiting on my work visa getting approved bit of a long haul but some South African lads had done 10-12 weeks so wasn't to bad haven't worked onshore but lads I've talked to have said camps are sound not heard of any one getting any hassle as long as paperwork is ok.great working in warm weather beats the North Sea hands down try contacting Prime International Recruitment in Manchester or Ponticheli from France they both have been sending lads offshore and to the LNG job at Soyo good luck...

Hi, I'm currently on my leave from working out in Angola. We're staying and working in Luanda and to be honest it's not bad at all. We don't work sundays so we go out every saturday night. There's plenty of poverty and obviously a few no go areas but in general the locals seem sound. Saying that mind I still wouldn't go out alone!!!
