Bulldog mate a wouldnt waste your money, I know of at least 10 guys that have done it, and stil never had a job out of it, its money down the drain. TWI must be producing around 50 inspectors in the uk alone every year.

Thats the rules. Why not take the two exams one after the other. I know it has added expense but at least you will get to do your level 2.

Bulldog,
I take it you have been teaching practical welding, if so, then you have been inspecting welds!
Get a letter off your college stating you have been involved in welding inspection, plus submit a document containing your duties as an welding instructor (visual inspection, consumable control, material indentification etc, etc).
Level one is for people off the street who have no experiance in welding.
Hope this helps
Cheers,
Mick

I dunno, with the experience Bulldog mentioned he should be allowed to sit 3.1, he's got more than me when I sat mine, although there was no 3.0 at the time.

They bend the rules to suit themselves, which is mightily unfair I know two people who have sat 3.1 and would know one end of a welding rod for the other, one actually was a qualified marine engineer who got a job with Lloyds as a ships surveyor.

Bulldog, why don't you go for the PCN visual ticket instead?

Hi All!

bulldog, if you read the criteria for acceptance for the 3.2 Welding Inspector qualification (which is very confusing!) you will find that you need to have two years experience as a 3.1 and to meet their conditions, before you can do the 3.2 Senior exam.

https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http://w...cswip_wi692.pdf

However, I know people who have jumped from the bog standard 3.1 to being accepted on a 3.2 senior course in less than a year! It will depend on your C.V. and what you have been doing and also your background!

I also know lad's who have been refused access to this course after several years inspection! I guess it depends on how good your C.V. is!

What I would say, if your paying for this yourself, go for the 3.2 if at all possible!, the 3.1 is worthless as a qualification for employment!

Regards

Its the 3.0 Level 1 that is no good the minimum you need is a 3.1 Level 2 the 3.2 level 3 is a Senior welding inspector
