Bushwhacker, if you have previous experiece or industry qualifications do they omit units from the course?

Spoke earlier today with a mate, went to college with him during our apprenticeship where we both studied C&G in Fabrication & Welding. Later on he went to College to do his HNC and due to his units from C&G they cut his course.

Would be handy if they did, as I am thinking of applying.

I've completed C&G, ONC, HNC & HND, You do not get any units omitted for previously completed units on C&G.

Paul.

Paul2004,

I agree with you, I don't believe they would cut anything from the course, but they did for him, why would he lie?

The old C&G 2290 in fab n weld was a craft course because there were no maths or science units. The ONC or NC as it is now know is the path to HNC /D. Even with this there are no exemptions. HNC to HND would cross over and therefore there would be some accreditation of prior learning.

C&G III could give you a pathway to HNC

Paul 2004 is bang on - C&G Qualifications are not allowed to be used as top up units for HNC. It was mentioned by my course tutor that industry cetificates such as NDT & Weld inspection may be used to top up the HNC. But to be honest if you have NDT/ Weld Insp certificates you should fly through the units aswell as brushing up on your knowledge prior to your end of course exam.
