Good afternoon all,

We have been asked to look into potentially manufacturing a 904L grade tank,

The question is what grouping does 904L come under and can it be welded with a 316 Coding.

Thanks in advance

Im not sure what youre asking.....904L is a sort of super 316L. Its higher alloyed stable austenite with improved corrosion resistance.
If your asking about ASME groups or similar....I dont know...you need a QC specialist for that.

EN ISO 15608 group 8, sub group 8.2.
I think that any WPS qualified on group 8 covers this but this is for EN codes only. ASME may be different.

As far as I can see, this material is only identified by its' UNS number in ASME 2.Not too sure if that makes a huge difference to anything as the material IS identifiable.(shouts in desperation) WELDING ENGINEER....... biggrin.gif
